“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” – Lao Tzu
Times of life transition are often times of personal dissonance and emotional upheaval. These phases of life also contain powerful and often untapped energy for personal transformation.
Mid-life is a time when almost everyone experiences a change in personal identity and hears a call to make changes to one’s internal or external life. Life transitions can also include the loss of a loved one, change in an important relationship or a shift in personal role. We also may experience times when our internal world is shifting and our external world seems stagnant and unchanging. As a result, we may feel trapped and uncomfortable going about business as usual. Whether your transition is driven by the internal or external, these can be times when our whole identity is questioned and the ground beneath us feels unsteady and uncertain. Psychological issues or emotional wounding from the past may reemerge and bring discomfort. Therapy in times of transition can be especially effective.
We can take times of transition as opportunities to look deeper and reevaluate our life path. I would love to work with you as you integrate both inner and outer change and move on to your next life stage.
“There comes a time in your life when you know that the life you have been living is over and you don’t have a clue who you are becoming.” – Marion Woodman
